Customer Photo Stones
(place cursor over above thumbnails)
These images are transferre printed onto recycled marble and various sandstones, as well as fired clay. Forms and decoration are kept simple to give priority to the image. Sandstone varies in color, figuration and thickness. The color of the sandstone can dramatically alter the color of the image, which is why most sandstone pieces use a version of sepia. Full color images need to be on the white marble or a very light-colored clay. Notice how #7 has a full color image, that has been changed significantly due to the dark clay background used for the panel. Stone edges can be straight or "broken," though multiple broken edges for these small stones can be a bit tricky to achieve. One sample (#16) has been transferred to wood and framed.
Notice the shapes and edges of the images. You'll see hard straight edges, soft edges which fade into the stone, raged edges, torn paper edges and images on raised panels. Photos can be black & white, full color or a version of sepia so the image would have a single color tone which can be warm or cool.
